10 CLASSES THAT WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY WITH ACADEMIC WRITING IN ALL DISCIPLINES!
What will be taught are the style guide formats used in the arts, social sciences, sciences, law, history, and more that are needed at the university and college level in order to write A+ papers. You will also learn many tips about how to write A+ essays and papers for university, as well as good online research skills, and how to use online libraries, as well as physical libraries, and get the best out of research endeavors at the library. Tips on good self-editing and proofreading advice and practice will also be included in this course. You will have ample practice at writing good essays and performing and conducting strong research skills for the areas that you want to study in school. This class will help your child to not only write strong essays in a variety of formats such as research, expository, persuasive, college essays, and many others, this class will help your child to become prepared for the rigors for university and college and to be ahead of the game in terms of post-secondary education. This is a superb class to prepare your children for postsecondary education, either college or university, and to receive the best grades past high school.
With a maximum of 20 to 30 minutes of lecture time, the rest of the class will be structured in a format where there will be in-class assignments of smaller essays of 500 to 1000 words with assignment guidelines and grading rubrics provided. Homework that would be assigned would consist of longer-form essays of 2000 words to 3000 words to be due every two weeks of the class duration.
The essays will be graded according to the grading rubric, with A-pluses assigned to those essays which most adhere to the applicable style guide format.
Students will also have the opportunity to fully understand the various areas of study at the postsecondary level of education for college and university.

Week 1: Meet and greet and introduction of the American Psychological Association Style guide (APA), as well as the relevant disciplines that this style guide is used for in postsecondary education. In-class writing of a short 300-words personal essay using some APA techniques. Non-graded.
Homework: Write a 500-words essay using APA techniques. Graded.
Week 2: Continuation of APA style guide. In-class assignment of 500-words persuasive essay with assignment guidelines and grading rubric provided. Graded.
Homework: Write a 750-words essay using APA techniques. Graded.
Week 3: Introduction of the Modern Languages Association style guide (MLA). Discussion of applicable academic disciplines for this style guide format. In-class of 1,000-words essay using MLA. If not completed, assigned as homework.
Homework: Complete in-class assignment. Graded.
Week 4: Continuation of MLA style techniques. Write 1,500-words in-class essays. If not completed, assigned as homework.

Week 5: Introduction of the Council for Science Editors (CSE) style guide used in scientific disciplines. Discussion of the academic subjects this is used for. Write an in-class essay of 500-words using CSE format. Non-graded.

Week 6: Continuation of discussion of CSE format. In-class assignment of 1,500-words essay using CSE format. Homework is to complete the in-class essay.

The topic that will be covered in this class is the History of African Canadians. There is a presence of Africans in Canada before even the French arrived in Canada with Mathieu da Costa. This class will explore the rich history of Africans in Canada, including such figures as cowboy John Ware from Alberta, Freelove Hazzard from the east coast of Canada, Mary Ann Shadd Cary who was a lawyer, newspaper owner in Ontario, and more, and Dr. Carrie Best who was an activist and author based in Nova Scotia. This class will also discuss the presence of Africans in Canada from the Underground Railroad from the United States.
Using a treasure hunt game for class interaction once the key figures of African Canadian history are taught with a "Who's Who" game, plus working on either group or individual and shared journal writing of thoughts you as learners had about Africans in Canada before and at the end of the lesson, we will engage in thoughtful learning that will bring to light all of the awesome accomplishments of many Africans who live in Canada.

Beginning with an introduction to the history of radio and audio in America, the following class will have you right into recording audio from your smartphone and learn how to edit exciting snippets of sound and music if you choose in order to produce your own radio shows. Each class, you will come up with a new radio show that will be even better than the last show.

Be a Child Star Chef Cooking Class! This class will help you to become a child star with cooking. It’s a cooking class. Since it is an ongoing class, I’ll cover our agenda for the first six weeks of the class:
Week 1: Let’s learn how to cook macaroni and cheese!
Week 2: Let’s learn how to cook chicken pot pie!
Week 3: Let’s learn how to cook blueberry chocolate chip granola bars!
Week 4: Let’s learn how to cook a tuna melt!

This class will teach you how to code in javascript for video games with Dr. Donna! The topics that we will be covering include step-by-step demonstrations, plus in-class practice on how to code with javascript for video games. The aim of the class is to work on a project to complete a simple video game that should be completed by the end of the four weeks of the class.
Week 1: February 21, 2022: Demonstration on how to start coding with javascript. Brainstorm ideas for your video game with the entire class’s positive and constructive feedback. In-class practice.
