Men Having Plastic Surgery in Droves

Plastic surgery is not just for the wives of Hollywood stars anymore – their husbands are getting it too.

George Clooney has admitted to some eye work, many other men are spending thousands to fight the signs of aging.

Chiseling the jaw line, getting rid of fat in the rear end and bellies, as well as smoothing wrinkles around the eyes are some of the surgeries men are performing to give them the edge in the business world, physicians are saying.

In 2007, men did 1 million cosmetic procedures; this is an increase of 17 percent from 2006. The major growth for men is in non-surgical procedures such as Botox, lip plumping and skin resurfacing. These procedures have increased 21 percent.

In the United States, the common surgical procedures for men are liposuction, eyelid surgery, nose work, male breast reduction and hair transplants.

Men are also getting laser hair removal, micro-dermabrasion, and fillers to plump up sagging cheeks and laser skin resurfacing.

Zhara's Blog

Donna: What started your interest in hair? Zhara: I think for the majority of black women myself included, I've always been obssesed with a major interest in my hair! Lol. My hair has always been a forefront of never ending years of hair dilemmas and styles. Black hair is the most fragile and versatile texture in the world. This has made my hair journey an interesting one from being natural as a child to permed in my teen years with good and bad hair days that brought about emotions and experiences that lay down deep in the soul. A black woman can never escape her personal hair struggles unless she makes peace with it and works with her hair in tune with nature....thankfully going natural has definitley lead me to this path :) Donna: Tell me about your website? Zhara: It's actually more of a community of support and motivation more than a personal website per se. I joined a community online photo blog called fotki.com to document my personal hair journey among thousands of other...

Britney Spears Plans Plastic Surgery

Britney Spears is planning to undergo cosmetic surgery because she has slacked off her diet sources say. Spears would like her body to be the way it was before she had kids. Spears has been ripping pages out of magazines to choose what she thinks are her favourite body parts. Sources say Spears is insecure over how much her body has changed since having her kids. She is reported wanting to do whatever it takes to be back to her best, even if that means plastic surgery. Psychologist Linda Blair says that Britney may need more than just plastic surgery to feel better about herself. Blair says people often think plastic surgery is the answer and will solve their problems when it really does not. Spears is looking into getting a tummy tuck, liposuction, breast enhancement and rhinoplasty. She is also looking to get a chemical peel for her facial skin.

Dream Hair

Happy New Year Everyone! I'm having a quiet evening at home listening to Erykah Badu right now. I still have to read Jill Scott's poetry book and I hope to get through it before the end of this evening. Speaking of Jill Scott, here is a picture of her included in this blog post. This is my dream hair. I am hoping that my hair gets to this fullness and length by the end of 2011 and just keeps growing beyond that. I would keep my hair black though, with the bit of accepted gray coming in :-). I am getting there. Happy New Year!
