What Is Trichology?

For problems with your hair and scalp, a trichologist is the person to go to. They specialize in hair loss, baldness, scaling of the scalp, itching, hair breakage, dryness and excessive oiliness, including other things.

Training as a trichologist includes a completed degree from a recognized trichology educational program and there are organizations that would recommend that a trichologist be a registered member of an organization such as the International Association of Trichologists.

In an initial consultation with a trichologist, you can expect that there would be questions about your diet and exercise level, as well as a blood test taken to observe any underlying factors.

These tests are identified as the following:

· Hair analysis
· Microscopic analysis
· Mineral analysis

Trichologists bridge the gap between naturopathic medicine and traditional doctors.
