General Hair Loss Question

What is the normal cycle for hair growth and hair loss?

Each hair grows about half an inch, 1 centimetre per month. About 90 percent of the hair on your head grows at any one time, 10 percent is in the resting phase. After about two to three months, the hair that is resting falls out. New hair grows in its place. The normal cycle of hair growth occurs from about two to six years.

Shedding hair each day is normal in this cycle. Some people, including men, women and children, may experience excessive shedding, or hair loss.

Zhara: It's actually more of a community of support and motivation more than a personal website per se. I joined a community online photo blog called fotki.com to document my personal hair journey among thousands of other
